Summary: Jax and Carly discuss her proposal.

Author’s Note: The lack of follow through on the proposal annoyed me so I wrote my own!

“Did I just hear you right?”

Carly looked down at her feet, uncomfortable with the amount of venerability she was showing him. “That wasn’t quite the response I was hoping for.”

“You’ve certainly taken me by surprise Carly.”

“Jax I know, but just, you said it before, we’d make a good family. You, me, my boys and John. It could work.”

She stepped forward, closing the gap between them and reached up, playing with his tie. “I love spending time with you Jax and I want someone like you in my life.”

Jax looked down at her and sighed, unsure of how to respond. “Carly, I enjoying spending time with you too and I believe you when you say you’re over Sonny and I hope you believe that I’ve moved on from Courtney. But we’ve both done the marriage thing a lot and I want to be sure this time, I don’t want to rush into it and make a mistake. I don’t want to loose what we have now.”

She shook her head, “I don’t want to wreck things either and I wouldn’t have said it if I wasn’t sure that I want to spend my life with you and the boys. We’d be good together Jax and you know it.”

“You really mean it don’t you?”

“Yes…I do.”

They stared at each other for a moment before finally he broke the silence. “I need to think about this Carly. Lets get the benefit out of the way and come back to this…I’m not saying no, but I need some time.”

“Just, I want you to take me seriously Jax because I really do mean this.”

“I know you do.” He looped his arms around her waist and kissed her softly. “Come and have dinner with me.”

She nodded and together they walked back inside.
